"Abundance" -- line art in pen on paper, colored digitally in Corel Painter on Intuos 3 tablet
For Enchanted Visions Project monthly theme of the same title.
I recently bought a Japanese picture book on the subject of modern Japanese textiles from a seller in Kyoto. I've always enjoyed looking at detailed textile designs, especially kimono from all periods. The color scheme for my 'Abundance' was inspired by one fabric design for the curtain at the Imperial Palace -- a floral motif with beige, ochre, yellow, gold, burgundy, etc.
I have elements (goldfish, peony, peach) in this image that are known to be 'lucky' according to the principles of Feng Shui. The color red, especially the orange-y red is also supposed to be auspicious for activating the qi/chi. ^^ So hopefully, this is an all-round 'lucky' image for anyone who comes across it.
