"Aurora" -- traditional line drawing in ballpoint pen on paper, scanned, colored in Corel Painter on Intuos 3 tablet
This is a piece specifically created for the December 2010 theme of the Enchanted Visions Project
, "Aurora". I think aurora borealis, the natural phonomenon, and the Princess Aurora from the ballet "Sleeping Beauty" got combined as an inspiration for this piece. She's an ethereal, celestial figure dancing high in the night sky over a snowy landscape.
Speaking of "Sleeping Beauty" the ballet, the music is nothing short of opulent, by none other than Tchaikovsky, it's a feast for the eyes and ears. I have danced the delightfully short variation of the first fairy (There are 6 of them that each bestow a special gift to baby Aurora.) and the long Garland Waltz (His waltzes are so beautiful and easy to dance to though, no matter how long they are -- music actually helps you along with the flow.) Anyway, this painting helped me remember my good days of dancing. ^^
Who knows, I might start making more pics with ballerinas in them this year.
My apologies for the watermark. (It's an EVP thing.)
