"Believe in Tomorrow" -- line art in pen on paper 8.5 x 11 inches, scanned image colored digitally in Corel Painter on Intuos 3 tablet
October 2011 is the 25th Breast Cancer Awareness Month. (Wow, 25 years...) I wanted to do an all-pink fantasy image to commemorate and also contribute in some small ways to add to the growing number of pink art in support of everyone affected by breast cancer, working to raise awareness, and working to find the cure.
It's a little fairy girl offering her prayer in the magical garden of pink flowers. Pink, like any other color group, has so many variations -- some are almost aggressive and certainly assertive and electrifying, while others are gentle, soft, reassuring, and soothing. I decided to go with the warm pink rather than the cooler pink and certainly not the 'hot pink' for this piece. I have a nice chunk of rose quartz that I keep on my desk under my lamp (I got this 1-lb rock at a gift shop in South Dakota for less than $10. What a deal! It's got this beautiful warm pink color sprinkled with multiple spots of rainbows -- just awesome.). I think I got my inspiration from this rose quartz. ^_^
