Ink & watercolor on vellum (140 lb) 5" x 7". A little bigger than usual for a change. ^^ I did a commissioned ACEO for a client on Etsy of a red poppy elf, which made me want to make a blue poppy version of an image. I've had multiple requests/commissions for red poppies. I love them and I enjoy drawing/painting them, but this was certainly a nice change of pace.
For those of you who have never seen blue poppies: Some 40 varieties of Meconopsis are said to exist in the Himalayas (although they cross-breed/hybridize readily). A single species of blue poppies (Welsh Poppy) is indigenous to England, Wales, Ireland, and western Europe. These plants are perennial and prefer acidic, moist, loam-rich soil in half shade. If conditions are favorable, they can grow to be 3 to 4 feet tall.
This elf looks a little Vulcan -- reminds me of T'Pol from Star Trek Enterprise. lol (Yes, I'm a Star Trek fan.
