This is very much my usual style when I do a "pretty" Jin picture. Stop while leaving a lot of white as in "Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Tessen". So, naturally, I wanted to save a version of this before I go further with the idea of dark sky.
So why did his kimono end up in that shade of purple? It just did. Actually, it is a result of 4 different layers of pencil colors. (I'm sure there's a lot of psychological analyses one can do on the issue. After all, you mix blue with red and you do get some shade of purple. lol)
But the original image that I had in mind was Jin in moonlight (Well, he had a black formal 5-crested kimono on in that vision... and no cherry blossoms. But I always wondered why a rounin who's trying to be inconspicuous would wear a kimono with such a readily recognizable crest as Takeda clan's in the first place. Pride in his lineage, maybe...? It's also possible that was the only kimono and he had no money to buy another...). Anyhow, I might still play with the idea and do a version 2 of this picture.
Silver/grey haired Jin might become my next addiction. (I will try not to combine that with the animal ears addiction of mine -- because then I'd end up with InuYasha...)
Oh, you're thinking of doing a dark sky? Can't wait to see that!
I started sketching as well and I have windswept hair too (because that lovely lovely hair cannot not be windswept, I'll never say it enough), blowing the same side as you did. I started off the other way around but one of his hands is up to his face and I wanted to draw his beads so I had to flip the sketch
Haha, I know what you mean about the hair and the beads. I went through the same thing when I did the "Whiter Shade of Pale". Especially, on that one, he had no other identifyable characterstics (i.e., bangs, angry brows, glasses, and the frown), so the whole piece depended on the beads. XD I was like..."I want to draw his left hand in this pic, but it'll have to be his right!"

Yeah, I thought it's nice to have a sweet Jin every once in a while. (Although I'll admit that I'm a realy sucker for fierce glare of his, too.)
