Tempest of Iceby *aruarian-dancer

Digital Art / Mixed Media / Fantasy

"Tempest of Ice" - trad+digi mixed media with line art in pen on paper (8.5"x11"), free-hand digital coloring in Corel Painter.

This was painted for the Enchanted Visions Project's old theme (I don't know exactly which month of what year this prompt was issued. It was before I joined the project.), "Tempest of Ice". A wounded warrior and his pack of wolves make the last stand with their backs against a frozen waterfall. This is also being submitted to the "Wolves" issue of EMG-Zine for gallery consideration, and that is why I wanted to put the wolves in this image (two projects with one painting...).

I originally went back and forth about the look of the warrior. I liked the Nordic look as well as the Asian, but in the end, I couldn't shake off the image of the actor Vladimir Kulich from "The 13th Warrior".

Jr.'s been bugging me to draw a guy for some time, and she also makes fun of me about always opting for an amorphous background (*guilty as charged*), so I'm glad to say that she seemed quite happy with this one. ^_^

Hehe, thanks! I squee around and waste lots of time when I draw good-looking men and that's why I don't do it very often. XD I can see that my current 'death obsession' started around the time I painted this one with blood. The guy in my mind was actually pretty badly injured, and his wolves are still respectful of his giant steel fang for the damage it can do, but if he weakens any further, he might be a fair meal to the pack after all... *shudder*

Those wolves look absolutely great though. Thick, dense, warm fur.
No doubt a warm coat and scarf should he desire one.
