Judges:
HOW TO ENTER
Send ~aruarian-dancer a NOTE* with a subject line "CONTEST ENTRY" with a link to your deviation, and please specify one of the three categories(art, literature, or 3D creations). Please mention in your deviation's "artist's comment" that it is your entry to the "RED contest" with a link to this journal. Entries will be posted on this journal in the order they are received.
Adding me to your watchlist is not a requirement to enter this contest and doing so will not increase your chance of winning. Although if you happen to add me during the contest period and you do enter my contest, I will not hold it against you, either. ^_^
*The "Note" feature (If you're not familiar with it already, it's essencially a "private message" feature on dA.) is a tab that can be found close to the top right of a deviant's homepage. It is also accessible from your "Messages" page. Notes are messages you can send and receive without other users seeing them.
Q & A
Question: Can I enter fan art?
Answer: Yes. So long as it is your original fan art. But please remember the following -- No tracing. No coloring of other artist's line art. No copying of screenshots or other available official art. This includes manipulation and customization of official art or other artist's fan art.
Question: I have a plushie I made. Can I enter?
Answer: Yes. If you have your plushie creation's photo as a deviation uploaded to deviantART, you may enter under "3D creations".
Question: I'm a little confused about the theme. Can you give me some examples?
Answer: Of course. Keep in mind that there will be as many different ways to interpret the color RED as there are artists. The following examples are just a handful of ideas: a picture of a red flower, a photo of a lady bug, a portrait of a girl with bright red lips in a red dress, a B&W photo with red in just one spot, a fan art of an anime character with red clothes/hair/eyes, an abstract art done in various shades of red. And here are some examples from my own gallery...
"Enma Ai - Butterfly" "Madam Red" "Sebastian sketch 2" "Sebastian Blood Stained v.2" "Last Breath v.3" "Mugen as Dorothy"
Question: I have this piece I made two years ago that is perfect for this contest. Does the entry piece have to be done within a certain period?
Answer: No, you don't have to make a new entry. If you already have a piece that is appropriate for the theme, you can go ahead and enter. Even if it's something you made when you were in kindergarten, if you strongly believe in its strength. ^_^
Question: Can I manipulate my photo in a photo editing program for entry into the contest?
Anwer: Yes, of course.
Question: I have this cosplay photograph that I would like to enter. I see cosplay listed under "3D creations", but I feel mine is more of an art photography. What category should I use?
Answer: If you want to be judged on the overall photography, then please enter in the Art category. If you'd like to be judged on your costume design and construction, please enter in the 3D creations category. The choice is up to you.
Qeustion: I have a story that I've written and it's way over 800 words. Is it possible for me to just enter a "portion" of my story that is less than 800 words?
Answer: Yes, an "excerpt" from a longer story may be entered.
Question: I can't find answer to MY question here. What do I do?
Answer: Feel free to send me a note with your question and I'll do my best to answer.
Good luck to everyone and have fun creating!
It is my humble wish for this event to be a fun gathering to showcase fellow deviants' creative efforts. Please take advantage of this opportunity to show your art, add some to your favorites, make new friends, inspire, and be inspired! Keep an open mind and an open heart, and we can all be winners.
