Description

"Lady of the Forest WIPs"

One of my friends on Facebook was interested in my tutorial. So here's a view of how the "Lady of the Forest" progressed from a ballpoint pen drawing on paper to a fully colored digital painting. I save my project in phases to check for mistakes, plan colors, or problem-solve along the way. On average, I end up with 4 or 5 WIPs before a piece is completed. This is a compilation of those files presented in a chronological order. The notes to the right briefly explain what I did in each stage/layer. As you can see, the life of my work lies in the final stage of putting in the highlights/glow. Everything looks flat until that phase. Often, the highlight layer, which sits as the top layer of the whole project, gets started sometime in the middle of the color phase and keeps getting worked on all the way to the finish.
