Owl Masquerade

"Owl Masquerade" was one of the prompts at last weekend's Sketch Fest #32. The original graphite sketch was lined over in sepia colored pencil before coloring in watercolor. This is the finished version. Vellum (140 lb.) 5" x 7". I've done a masked lady with a barn owl before. I love all kinds of owls, but am particularly fond of barn owls with their mask-like faces. My scanner sees shades of brown relatively well, so this was not as frustrating to adjust as some of my other pieces.
