"Shades of Blue" (Blue Orchids) -- line art in ballpoint pen on paper, scanned image colored in Corel Painter on Intuos 3
I'm gifting this to
who requested blue orchids. (Ulysses-31, I can send you a high resolution file without the watermark if you like.)
Within any given color name, there are so many different shades of it. I got to play with all sorts of shades of blue in this one from midnight blue on the wings to electric blue also on the wings and parts of the (dyed) dendrobium orchids to the violet blue in vanda orchids. By the way, vanda orchids (the two in the very front with pronounced veins) were fun to color.
I do enjoy working in shades of blue especially if there's purple/lavender mixed in.
